Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

Open Stacks podcast about FGI

Greg over at Open Stacks now has a podcast feed. And guess what? He has some nice things to say about FGI and especially our article, “Government Information in the Digital Age: The Once and Future Federal Depository Library Program” in podcast 10 — although he calls the 3 of us here at UC San Diego “professors” when in truth, we’re “librarians” 😉 . Thanks for the props Greg!

  1. D’oh! I have no idea where I got it into my head to call y’all professors. Your paper was just so gosh darned scholarly! Well, if that was the worst mischaracterization I made in discussing your paper, I can live with it. Thanks for the mention and linkage.
