Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

A community patron asked for help with USA Trade Online data. He was just starting an export consulting business and could not afford to subscribe, so he was very pleased to have access to the data via our depository. He was even more pleased when we showed him non-subscription data from the ITC dataweb (with help from GOVDOC-L)
