Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

New aggregator of open government technology blogs

Josh Tauberer, tireless freedom-fighter, has created a blog aggregator that combines many of the open government technology blogs: http://planetopen.occams.info/ There are RSS and Atom feeds. This is a convenient way to follow lots of open-government conversations! So far, he is aggregating these blogs:

* CDT (Open Government category)
* Free Government Information (FGI)
* GPO FDSYS
* GovTrack.us
* Joshua Tauberer
* Just a Govy
* LII Announce
* LII b-screeds
* Larry Lessig
* Library of Congress (LC Web site category)
* Open Congress
* Open Secrets
* Sunlight Foundation
* The Open House Project
* The Open Senate Project

Also, don’t forget that FGI provides similar aggregations for the govdocs community. Just follow the In other news… link at the top of every FGI page.
