Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

Depository Librarians Group in Facebook

Librarians from the Federal Depository Library Program are showing up in many online places. Now there is a group on Facebook for them. It’s a pretty quiet group so far, but it is another forum for librarians to gather and share their experiences and maybe reach out to users in creative ways. If you work in a depository library and have a Facebook account, please consider joining. Thanks to Kathryn Mills of DePauw for taking a chance and creating this group.

And if you’re not a depository librarian, but are a Facebook member interested in government information of all kinds, there’s a group for you too!
