Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

National Park Service employees react to censorship

After this week’s shutdown by the Trump administration of publications and “outward facing” documents at executive agencies, government employees are taking action.

Scientific American reports that anonymous employees of the National Park Service have created the AltUSNatlParkService Twitter account announcing their intent: “Mr. Trump, you may have taken us down officially. But with the scientific evidence & the Internet our message will get out.”
