Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

Tim Skeers, BOTM for October, 2006

I’d like to welcome Tim Skeers from the New Mexico State Library to the blogger podium. As his bio shows, Tim’s been around in the docs world for a while, and is a UIUC alum like me! Take it away Tim!!

And for all of you out there chomping at the bit to join the blogosphere, we’re always looking for volunteers to be guest bloggers. Got something to say, leaks to leak, ideas to disseminate, documents news to contextualize? Drop us a line at admin AT freegovinfo DOT info. It’s fun and easy 🙂
