Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

We recently added a page highlighting the ways that individuals and groups can use existing free, taxpayer-funded government information to build new products with new functions. We call them remixes.

You can get to the remix page anytime you like by clicking on the “library” link at the top of the page, then clicking on “remixes.”
