Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

Official Spring 2006 Depository Library Conference Proceedings now Available

I believe the Government Printing Office (GPO) has broken a new speed record for posting official Council proceedings. All of the handouts, presentations, and speeches for Spring Council were posted to the proceedings web site yesterday, just two weeks and two days after the closing of Council. Everything except the remarks of keynote speaker Joe Janes, but he probably did not speak from prepared remarks.

GPO should be commended for this timely posting of Council items.
