Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

Sunshine week panel March 13, 2006

Sunshine Week

The 2nd annual Sunshine Week is rapidly upon us. It’s once again brought to you by Open the Government, partnering with OMB Watch and Democracy in Action. They’ve got an interesting panel of experts (Tom Blanton from the National Security Archive among others) lined up to talk about government secrecy — especially salient at this time — and what citizens can do to promote open government. They’re looking for local hosts for the live satellite feed. Please contact them ASAP if your library would be willing to host.
