Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

I just got back from another fun-packed week of teaching the data services workshop at ICPSR, and next week I will be speaking briefly at the Annual Meeting of the Society of American Archivists on “The challenges for preservation of government information in the digital age” (Appraisals/Appraisers Section Meeting) on Friday. Stop by and say hello!
