Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

FOIA compliance

The Washington post reports that Sens. Patrick J. Leahy (D-Vt.) and John Cornyn (R-Tex.) will push legislative proposals for penalizing agencies that ignore Freedom of Information Act requests. They also propose an ombudsman for FOIA — “who would help referee conflicts between the public and the government while requiring departments to provide more information on how quickly they process requests.” More… . If you need to register, go to Bug Me Not and get random users/passwd for the Washington post (as well as other online newspapers).
