Our mission

Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

Two New Podcasts: Health Tips & Ag Econ

Today we added another two podcasts to our directory of government podcasts:

  • Daily HealthBeat Tip – “Launched on July 11, 2005, this service provides health promotion and disease prevention tips 5 days a week in audio and text formats.” Site encourages broadcasters to use tips with attribution. Probably good for podcasters.
  • Economic Research Service (ERS) Podcast – Audio items on a number of agricultural economic topics.

There was a note on the ERS web site indicating it would be down from late Friday (4/6) to Sunday (4/9).

Do you have suggestions for our government podcast page? Our only requirement is that the podcast must be produced by an agency or elected official. Additionally, it must be a true podcast meaning that there is a way to subscribe to automatically receive future content. Just putting sound files on a web site and calling it a podcast doesn’t qualify!
