More about NTIS Repository Service
Recently, we noted that NTIS is going to offer a Repository Service to Federal Agencies. Here is a followup story:
- A Joint Venture to Create Federal Science Agency Repositories, by Miriam A. Drake, InfoToday (October 20, 2011). This program will help agencies manage their content, make it more accessible to the public while preserving it for NARA and future generations. The agencies also benefit because they do not have to begin at square one to build a repository and metadata. Doing more with less may be possible because costs will be shared.
Coming in 2012: A new American FactFinder [Corrected]

The current /new American FactFinder/ will be completely revised during 2012. The new AFF that you have been learning, and that we have been giving workshops about, will change from its historic and current basis, which is based on /surveys and programs/, to a/topics /basis. The standard for its ease-of-public-use will be Google. It development will emphasize not desktops but handheld devices such as smartphones (smartphones and such devices are currently accessing the Census website more often than desktop computers are)....Continue reading
New Widget: put text of bills w/features on your web site.
An excellent new tool from Josh Tauberer, creator of GovTrack.us: POPVOX.
Bill text widgets are available on www.popvox.com, which aggregate information about pending bills and let individuals weigh in with a message that is delivered to Congress. Every pending bill is available on POPVOX -- from health and energy, to defense, jobs, and the environment. The bill text embed includes a keyword search and section-by-section table of contents created by POPVOX. Live blogging Fall ’11 Depository Library Conference #dlc11f
The Fall '11 Depository Library Conference starts tomorrow morning at 8am and goes through thursday October 20, 2011. We'll again be live blogging the event and will collect all tweets with the hashtags of #dlc11f, #dlc11, #fdlp, and #gpo. We hope that attendees will tweet like crazy in order to help those not able to attend in person to follow the many exciting sessions happening throughout the week.
