Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.
DOJ Foreign lobbyists database

According to the NY Times, the US Department of Justice has just released their Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) database. The Foreign Agents Registration Act (22 USC 611) requires people who are under foreign control to register with the Department of Justice before swaying public opinion. The Sunlight Foundation has some evaluation of the database. FARA would like feedback so please try it out and let them know what you think of the database.
Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) was enacted in 1938. FARA is a disclosure statute that requires persons acting as agents of foreign principals in a political or quasi-political capacity to make periodic public disclosure of their relationship with the foreign principal, as well as activities, receipts and disbursements in support of those activities.Continue reading →
