Free Government Information (FGI) is a place for initiating dialogue and building consensus among the various players (libraries, government agencies, non-profit organizations, researchers, journalists, etc.) who have a stake in the preservation of and perpetual free access to government information. FGI promotes free government information through collaboration, education, advocacy and research.

United Nations opens Official Document System to General Public

The United Nations (UN) announced that Official Document System (ODS), the premier full-text web resource for official United Nations documentation, opens to the general public via ODS as of 31 December 2004. Comprehensive coverage starts in 1993.
