From the Verve: “White House deletes thousands of web pages about energy conservation as heatwave slams US.”
The US Department of Energy reportedly deleted about 6,000 pages related to energy conservation as a historic heatwave tears across the country. This seems to have been a response to NYC Mayor Mamdani asking NYers to keep air conditioning at 78 degrees, causing a wave of GOP criticism online (78 degrees is in line with US Department of Energy recommendations!).
Luckily all of these sites from https://www.energy.gov/energysaver have been archived in the Internet Archive by the End of Term Archive, Environmental Data Governance Initiative (EDGI), and other web preservation projects!
