GovLoop.com: Facebook for federal employees
GovLoop says it is the "premier social network connecting the government community." It is intended for anyone who is a: "gov't employee (fed/state/local/intl), public policy student/professor, good gov't organization, or gov't contractor with good intentions." TechInsider reports that it has 10,000 members. A press release from GovLoop says,
GovLoop (http://govloop.com), an online community created for and by government employees, announced today it has signed up its 10,000th member less than a year after launching. Dubbed by some as a “Facebook for Feds,” GovLoop brings together government employees from the U.S. and other nations to discuss ideas, share best practices and create a community dedicated to the betterment of government.

Can Gov Doc Librarians Join?
It says Professor/Students of Public Policy can join, but what about Government Document Librarians? I'm going to join and see what happens. ;-)
I joined
And so far, I haven't been kicked out. ;-)
joining govloop
i gather that it is perfectly appropriate for govinfo librarians, fdlp librarians, etc. to join. i joined too and see that there is a small "libraries" group: "a group for library employees to share ideas, keep up to date, and learn from one another."
A search on "libraries" gets a fair number of hits, but "fdlp" does not get any.
but i think this is a place for fdlp librarians to keep up with gov employees and contribute to their conversations about government communications and information. in my experience, many good gov employees have good inclinations, but may not have been exposed to ideas of long-term preservation and open and free access.
Govloop to Buyout ClearedNeighbors.com
I found this website for government employees only to help them find rental properties in Washington, DC but then I saw a post in another forum that GovLoop was going to buy them out. Has anyone heard about this. I won't post the site link but you can google clearedneighbors.com and it is the only one that comes up. Seems like a good idea.
